Nearly each week, the students have an opportunity to engage in a special adventure activity.
The girls always look forward to these activities with a lot of excitement and anticipation. Depending on the time of year, the outings can include any of the following: white water rafting, kayaking, rock climbing, rappelling, spelunking, skiing and snowboarding, mountain biking, boating, fishing or hiking.
The majority of adventure outings are facilitated by select local guides and licensed professionals that have years of experience in creating fun filled and safe activities.
Sports are a great way for students to learn to work together as a team, enjoy healthy competition and to exercise after the school day.
Generally, students can participate in pickup games of volleyball, soccer, badminton, kickball or any number of activities on the lawn. Some student clubs focus on certain sports as well, such as the Cross-Country Team. These clubs are student driven and change from time to time depending on student interest.
The School of Horsemanship dovetails in many ways with the Equine Therapy available to all students, but its concentration is more on the development of the rider’s skills.
The limited number of spots in the School of Horsemanship are filled with girls who wish to learn equine arts, increase their skill level at dressage and jumping, and compete in equine events.
Students are able to spend several hours each week one-on-one or in small group lessons. At various times throughout the year, the students attend and participate in local and regional equine events and shows.
Because the school is in close proximity to Lexington, VA, the girls are also able to attend exhibitions and professional competitions at the Virginia Horse Center.
