Dr. Dennison, Academic Director at Greenbrier Academy, has introduced Quantum Learning to the teachers at the Academy. As a supportive delivery system, Quantum Learning allows teachers to present their content in a way that engages and energizes students. This model integrates learning and life skills, resulting in students who become effective lifelong learners who are responsible for their own education. Quantum Learning delivery concepts mirror so effectively the Relationality Model used at Greenbrier Academy. Students discover that the bases of most difficulties are formed in unhealthy relational patterns including academic failure. Distractions that are formed through poorly formed cognitive beliefs regarding primary relationships are often transferred into false or poorly conceptualized beliefs about one’s ability to perform academically.

Quantum Learning addresses how the learner receives, retains, and transfer knowledge from short-term to long-term retention, and understanding that this process occurs during sleep-state allows the teacher to present the academic in such a way that the information is presented as impactful, dynamic, and meaningful. This allows the student to store material learned during the lesson in the short-term memory. This is not a matter of inability to retain or delayed by learning disability (faculty beliefs about one’s ability to learn); it is about presentation and delivery of the academic information. If the learner is a willing participant in the academic process, she will be exposed to the impact and dynamic material; it will “stick” in the short-term memory and then later be transferred to long-term retention thus improving academic scores across all domains.

Dr. Dennison believes all teenagers can learn, though they may do this differently. Learning, he has found, is effective when it is joyful, engaging and challenging.
