Does your teen daughter…
- struggle to get out of bed in the morning?
- suffer from low self esteem?
- threaten or engage in self harming behaviors?
- fluctuate between depression and anxiety symptoms?
- have emotional trauma symptoms?
- isolate herself from peers and family?
You’re not alone. Many families come through our doors with an introverted teen having similar struggles. For introverted students that are struggling, this one program has proven to make all the difference in their healing and recovery.
At Greenbrier Academy, we’re thrilled to watch students heal in our therapeutic art programs. We understand that art therapy is crucial for young girls to develop…
- sense of self
- a sense of self-worth
- right brain healing (useful for emotional trauma symptoms)
- constructive self expression
- a healthy coping strategy
No matter what kind of art an introverted teen pursues, it will help lay the foundation for a road towards a bright future. We can go on and on about the importance of the arts in maintaining mentally sound and healthy people, from the very young to the very old.
We have ample amounts of proof that art classes lead to a higher graduation rate and success in the workplace when they get there. This article gives 10 Studies on the Importance of Arts Education, as a start. That is our number one goal at our therapeutic boarding school for girls. We preserve and protect the futures of each student that comes through our doors. Therapeutic arts programs are one way to help your introverted teen find purpose and inspiration, and it’s why we choose to have it as part of our student’s experience at GBA.
While art classes tend to be the first to go due to funding issues for many schools, we provide a state of the art, fully equipped art studio for our students.
It’s this lack of arts, especially arts that are lost that led the Greenbrier Academy to make sure we ALWAYS include important arts into the academics at the school. We even include art programs and classes you just won’t find it many other places, such as our African Drumming program, or our ceramics and painting studio. No matter what we strive to make sure that the therapeutic arts programs are offered, and your daughter has the best chance of making a recovery as possible. In fact, we do best with introverted type students! Not something many therapeutic programs can say.
